THOSE OF YOU WHO LIVE IN NEW JERSEY
SHOULD FIND THIS INTERESTING
DID YOU KNOW ?
In the year 1660 there was a boy born in England and
his name was Thomas Luker.
In 1685 Tom came to this country with his two brothers.
Looking for work he came to a small town located on
the Goose Creek River.
There was no way for people to get across the river so
Tom felt he could make money setting up a ferry boat.
He did that and everyone was very happy being able to go
back and forth across the Goose Creek River.
All the residents were so thankful for Tom and
they loved Tom so much
that they made a decision.
As a tribute to Tom for all he had done for them.
Goose Creek River would be renamed.
The new name was
Toms River
