THE BEGINNING

RELIGION DOES NOT ALLOW

FOR FRANK DISCUSSION

WHO ARE WE RUNNING AROUND ON A BALL

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE UNIVERSE

SUSPENDED IN THE MIDDLE OF SPACE

AND WE ARE TRYING TO FIND SECURITY

As long as we have studied things

written by others,

or discussed things among ourselves,

we have never seemed to have

been able to arrive at a general consensus

concerning who we really are.

What is our purpose upon

this ball we have chosen to call

a planet flying around in what

we have also chosen to call a universe.

WE TURN TO RELIGION

AND RUN INTO A WALL

It seems that in order for us

to be able to converse about such things

we have to turn to religion.

We run into a massive roadblock,

because we find that in each religious group

there is an aversion to enter

into a discussion about these things.

RELIGION CAN ONLY DISCUSS WHAT THEY

BELIEVE TO BE TRUE

They have a concern  that the subjects

being discussed may veer away

from the conclusions reached

by the group in question.

IF IT REALLY IS TRUE BUT

DISAGREES WITH THE GROUP

THEY DON'T WANT TO KNOW IT

Don't tell me anything

that may be true if it disagrees with

anything that my group teaches.

THAT LEAVES ME OUT

The reluctance of religion

to allow free and open discussion

of their beliefs leaves a person like myself

standing outside of their grasp.

To me, there should be a

rationale discussion concerning all things,

and the results of the discussion

should be based on science, and logic.

FAITH

Faith is a terrible thing

for me personally to deal with

because it says to me that

I must believe what you think

even if I don't.
